Critical Divergence in MnSi - 1978

According to Moriya's self-consistent renormalization (SCR) theory [T. Moriya and A. Kawabata, J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 34, 639 (1973); 35, 669 (1973); or T. Moriya, Spin Fluctuations in Itinerant Electron Magnetism (Springer, New York, 1985)] the critical fluctuations of the itinerant electron spin density in MnSi extends unusually far away from the critical temperature (Tc = 29.5K). The muon was recognized by Yamazaki et al. as a handy probe for such fluctuations; 55Mn NMR had not been able to follow the relaxation to within closer than 100K of the critical temperature. A longitudinal field of 700 Oe was applied to quench any effects of nuclear dipolar fields on the muon and the following ciritcal divergence of the muon relaxation rate was observed:
